The talk introduces SuperMUC-NG (Next Generation), currently the most powerful supercomputer in Germany. The talk gives an overview of the current state-of-the-art in High Performance Computing (HPC) and the upcoming developments. The focus is on domain sciences, which are using these infrastructures and thereby represent a broad field of activity for computer science. How are such powerful systems used in research, what does this mean for science itself, and how and when will these developments influence our daily lives.
